How we gave a tired seaside property the full glow-up treatment

Some homes have instant star power. Others… need a little help finding their spotlight.
This coastal house had the location, the sea views, and the potential - but it was hiding under layers of dated style choices and missed opportunities.
Think gaudy paint colours, orange-tinged timber floors, and a kitchen that was still clinging to its 90s glory days.
But at Byrne Homes, we’re in the business of makeovers - and we could see her inner beauty.
Our mission? A head-to-toe transformation into a timeless coastal beauty - bright, confident, and ready to entertain.

Kitchen: From loud lipstick to effortless chic
The original kitchen came in swinging with vivid red splashbacks and hand-painted tiles - more shout than style. The layout worked, but the rest? Time for a fresh start. We supersized the island bench, gave it a beautiful curved engineered stone top, and dressed the whole space in a soft coastal palette of mint green and white. The curves continued into the cabinetry, while the splashback shimmered like the nearby sea. A hidden butler’s pantry keeps the mess tucked away, and vertical grooved panelling on the island added the wow! Now, instead of clashing colours and 90s vibe, the kitchen is calm, inviting, and ready for its close-up.

Bathroom: From practical ponytail to spa-day hair
Before, the bathroom was pure utility - functional, but hardly inspiring. Small, enclosed, awkward, and fittings that had long since lost their shine. We reimagined it as a spa-worthy sanctuary, with large-format terrazzo tiles setting a luxurious base, and a feature wall of soft green tiles that brings a fresh, coastal energy to the space.A walk-in rain shower and a freestanding bath were positioned to catch the last of the day’s light, while a modern timber vanity brought warmth. The grooved vessel basin subtly echoed other design details in the home, tying the look together. Add underfloor heating, and you’ve got a space that’s indulgent in every season. It’s gone from “get in and get out” to “linger until your fingers wrinkle.”

Living Room: From moody introvert to social butterfly
The living area had presence - but the wrong kind. Dark floors, a small and lacklustre fireplace, and a layout that felt more like a hall than a hub.We lightened the floors, refreshed the paint, and gave the fireplace the statement it deserved. Now the room feels open, bright, and perfectly in step with the coastal surroundings.Today it’s the life of the party - whether that’s a big family gathering or a quiet evening soundtracked by the ocean.

The big reveal
What was once a shy, dated home is now a confident coastal stunner - effortlessly blending elegance with a relaxed beachside vibe. By refreshing each space, maximising the views, and layering textures that speak to the landscape, we turned an overlooked property into a home that turns heads for all the right reasons.Proof that with the right vision, the right craftsmanship, and the right team, every home has a glamour shot waiting to happen.
