Building a home in Auckland from overseas? How Byrne Homes makes it simple
You don’t need to be in Auckland to build here. You need a builder you can trust when you’re not.
Perhaps you’re a New Zealander working abroad, a family planning the move home, or someone making Auckland home for the first time. You might be away for part of the design and build, or all of it. We have built several homes for clients in both situations, and the experience has shaped how we work.
When you're building from a distance, communication is everything. You want to know how your home is progressing, and you want to hear it directly from the people building it. That's why we show you your build every day and keep you involved in every decision.

Why overseas clients choose Byrne Homes
You deal with the directors, not a call centre. We take on a limited number of builds each year so we can personally oversee every one. When you have a question at 9pm your time, you know exactly who will answer it.
Three generations of building
Byrne Homes is family owned. The care that comes with putting our name on a home doesn’t change because you’re on the other side of the world.
A team built around your home
We recommend an architect suited to your project and together we work alongside them, along with our interior designer and our in house quantity surveyor. Already have your own architect, QS or project manager? We’re happy to work with them as well.
One point of contact from design to handover
We guide you through design and consent, manage the build remotely on your behalf, and deliver a turnkey home through to Code Compliance Certificate.

See your build every day, wherever you are
Our project management software (JobTread) gives you a private window into your build. Log in from London, Sydney or Singapore and you’ll find:
• Daily progress photos and videos taken on site, so you watch your home take shape in real time
• Every document in one place: plans, consents, selections, contracts, variations and invoices
• Clear messages with our team, kept on record so nothing gets lost across time zones
• A live timeline for the project, including milestones and completion date
You’re never left guessing, and you never need to chase an update. It’s the same view of your project that we see, and it makes the distance feel a lot smaller.

How building from overseas works with us
1. First conversation A video call at a time that suits your time zone. We talk through your site, your brief and your budget.
2. Design and pricing
We bring in the right architect and our quantity surveyor so your design and your budget develop together, with no surprises later. On Zoom, we take you on a virtual tour through your future home and show you alternatives live on the call. Want to see a wider kitchen or a different window layout? We change it while you watch, so being overseas puts you at no disadvantage to being in the room.
3. Consent
We guide the design through Auckland Council consent and keep you updated at each stage.
4. The build
Our team runs the site day to day. We use the same great team of trusted builders and contractors we have been using for years. If you are overseas you follow along through daily photos and approve decisions online.
5. Handover
We complete your home through to Code Compliance Certificate, ready for you to walk in. We can also help furnish your home if you'd like, so it's ready to live in the day you arrive.
